MAKASAR - Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Riau reached the third position of the National Science and Technology (IPTEK) 2017 category Budhipura from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). This award was given to the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Riau since judged successful in the innovation of Sainteknopark development of sago and derivatives in a number of Regencies and Cities.
Menristekdikti Muhammad Nasir handed the award directly to Arbaini, MT Head of Balitbang of Riau Province representing Governor of Riau Arsyadjuliandi Rachman at the 22nd Memorial to the National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Monday, (10/8/2017).
At the same event, the Governor also received the Pataka of Menristekdikti M. Nasir as a sign of Riau become the host of 23rd Hakteknas in 2018.
The Governor of Riau Arsyadjuliandi Rachman grateful and confidence over this. According to him, this is a form of Central Government for the achievement and innovation conducted by Provincial Government of Riau during this time. Especially in developing the Science Techno Park (STP) in Riau in the field of Sago.
"I hope this awards can be a motivation and a foothold for the whole range of the Riau Provincial Government to synergized in developing Sago and its derivatives. This is one of the potential and advantages of Riau. Because of our coastal area and sago grows there," he said.
Budhipura awards which started in 2012 is the annual awards of Kemenristekdikti and given to the Provincial Government that significantly gives serious attention to institutional development, resources and a network of science and technology. So being the locomotive of development in the regions.
Before getting this awards, Riau along four other nominees namely South Sumatera, West Java, North Sumatera have to pass a number of series of evaluation.

STP Riau is itself a container for printing entrepreneurs based technology to produce products of high quality and be able to compete and enter the domestic market and abroad. So the technology and innovations resulting from research activities are packaged at STP will eventually boost the economy of the area.
STP Riau with the areas of focus on processing sago, coconuts, fish and pineapple for novice entrepreneurs will print-based technology in the fields of yesteryear.
