Administration in Riau province is headed by a Governor / Head of the Region with a Vice-Governor. In performing their duties, the staff there are 3 local government organizations namely: Regional Secretary (Secretary), Regional Development Planning Board (BAPPEDA) and Riau Province Inspectorate. Regional Secretary in charge of three (3) Assistant and 9 (Nine) Bureau are:

     Assistant Government Affairs oversees:

         Bureau of Public Relations
         Bureau of Law, Organization and Governance
     Assistant for Economic Development and Welfare oversees:
         Administrative Bureau of Economic
         Bureau of Development Administration
         Welfare Administration Bureau
     General Administrative Assistant III oversees:
         bureau
         Bureau of Finance
         Bureau of Supplies

Regional Development Planning Board (BAPPEDA) in addition to serving technically, also coordinate and integrate efforts, preparation of plans and work programs. Regional Monitoring Agency (Bawasda) is a regulatory element with general oversight duties on the wheels of local government in accordance with the plans and regulations.
