Riau Farmers Are Still Needs Financial Support

PEKANBARU: The reason why farmers in Riau experienced problems in raising the productivity of their plantations is the difficulty to get financial support, especially for replanting and seeding.

It forced Riau Plantation Agency trying to approach banks to help distribution of micro credit (KUR), one of them is Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) requested distributing KUR to the farmers who have nurtured by Plantation Agency (Disbun) Riau.

Head of Riau Plantation Agency, Drs. Zulher, MS to journalist on Friday, February 7th in Pekanbaru said if the farmers do not given financial supports quickly, they would have difficulties in replanting and seeding.

He said the fund distribution process in maintenance began in the first to third year. "Kita akan mengkoordinir dan memantau penyaluran dana tersebut kepada petani hingga petani siap mengembalikan pinjaman tersebut," he explained.

Farmers who assisted by Transportation Agency and received the financial support will continue fostered in growing their plantations. "Kita akan terus membina para petani itu sampai mereka bisa mengembalikan bantuan yang telah mereka gunakan," he added.

 

Zulher hoped the financial support could help the farmers to improving the productivity of their plantation which could influence their prosperity that is the goal of the KUR distribution. (rgi/ad)
