Pekanbaru: Awareness of the youth on the importance of national energy security, revealed in a seminar organized by the Youth Care Network of Energy (JP2E) in collaboration with the Social Sciences Faculty Student Executive Body of Riau University at the Social Sciences Faculty’s Hall on Wednesday (08/04/2015).
The Chief Executive and the Chairman of the JP2E Riau, M. Iqbal Fikri said the event was held because of their concern as youth and community on the future of national energy.
"The goal is to provide a effectiveness based resolution on the oil and gas management, provide awareness or concern for the public and non-technical academicians about the importance of sovereignty and resistance of oil and gas energy for the future," said he.
Abdurrahman Saleh as the Communication Center Head of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry that the awareness is important due to the short time before oil and gas energy diversification program, conversion of oil to gas and renewable energy in line with the President Regulation Number 5/2006 about national energy policy and the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Regulation Number 10/2012 about the physical implementation of the new energy utilization and the renewable energy.
The seminar was also supported by the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, SKK Migas, Chevron and BOB Siak Pusako. The speakers at the seminar which started on 09.30 WIB to 12.30 WIB were Saleh Abdurrahman (the Communication Center Head of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry), Ruli (the PR of SKK Migas) and Paulus Suryono (from Chevron).
"I hope that this event could be an encouragement to young people to be aware of energy," said one of the participants of the seminar. (rgi / ad)
