PEKANBARU - The safety of journalists is a major factor which must be thought in the running task coverage of a major event. One of them is when reports relating to the movement of terrorism.
"The most important aspect in carrying out tasks mainly terrorism coverage, not what the moment but the safety of the journalists. It was number one," says Chairman of Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) ,or Southeast Asian press organizations, Eko Maryadi when presenter experts representing Council Press in the event of Coverage Guidelines Dissemination Terrorism and Improving the Professionalism of the Media Press in covering the issues of terrorism in Pekanbaru, at Alpha Hotel Pekanbaru on Wednesday (5/10/2016).
Realised how important the safety aspects, the former Chairman of the Alliance of Independent Journalists Indonesia (AJI) also explained that journalists have a right to refuse to the special reports from his Office when not provided capabilities and security calculations.
"If the party doesn't think the safety of the reporter, may reporters were refused. So, the Office must give supply to the journalist. Both specific skills and guarantee safety," he said. (MC Riau/rat)
